Welcome New and Returning Students and Faculty to the MacOdrum Library Website

We are planning throughout the summer for a safe and gradual reopening of our library building for the fall semester with an aim to providing access to all floors of the building by the end of August.

At this time, we anticipate that there will continue to be a need to wear masks in the library and do contact tracing. Recently there have been some announcements on the potential for capacity limits to be lifted for September; however, a final decision on this will be made closer to that time and will be dependent on public health indicators and guided by the University’s Safe Return to Campus planning. Our website will be up to date with all the information you will need to visit the building safely when the time is right.

We expect that the fall will be a transition period where we will need to serve both students in Ottawa and the ones who cannot yet come back to campus. As such, we are planning to continue scan-on-demand and curbside and mailing services. We anticipate that access to the HathiTrust Emergency Temporary Access service, which gives remote access to 500,000 of our print books, will continue until our capacity limits are expanded but not beyond that. Assistance from our expert staff and access to our vast collection of online journals, books, and films will continue online even as the building reopens.

Throughout the fall, we will continue to adapt and expand as the public health restrictions allow.

Since the start of the public health crisis, the library demonstrated that our team of dedicated staff have the expertise to serve students and faculty under any circumstance. If you have feedback, please feel free to contact us.
