All floors open for study
Study space is available throughout the library building (all floors) for a maximum of 900 people. Check our Twitter Account for updates on building capacity.
Study space is limited to currently enrolled Carleton students, and current Carleton faculty, instructors, and staff, and you must wear a mask at all times.
Before you arrive, please read about visiting the library for information about using our space.
Silent Study Areas
Floors 3 and 5 offer silent study spaces for people who need to concentrate. Talking is not permitted, and neither are audible personal audio devices. Please turn off or silence device notifications when you're on these floors.
Floors 1, 2, and 4 are quiet spaces. Normally, you could have quiet conversations here, but physical distancing and wearing masks makes that difficult. The Discovery Centre and the library foyer are the best places for conversation.
Study rooms are bookable for one or two people depending on the room. Please keep any online conversations or meetings at a modest volume, as the rooms are not soundproof.
As in the rest of the library, no food is allowed in study rooms and masks must be worn at all times.
Graduate Study Rooms
There are a limited number of study spaces dedicated to Graduate Students located on the fifth floor, rooms 509, 511, and 537. These spaces are for single, silent study and are available on a first come first serve basis. Please respect the occupancy limit of the rooms as posted on the doors
There are a limited number of computers available on a first come, first served basis. They are located in the back of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors and near the back of the 4th floor. (see floor maps for locations)
Cubicles and Tables
Cubicles and tables are for individual use only. Some furniture has been removed and signage added to ensure physical distancing.
Cell Phones and Electronic Devices
Please set cell phones to silent. Computers and audio devices should be used with headphones and at low volume.
