Study space is available throughout the library building. Renovations on floors 2 and 4 during summer 2022 will likely cause noise and disruption. Some study space in the back of floor 1 is blocked off.

Before you arrive, please read about visiting the library for information about using our space.

Silent Study Areas

Floors 3 and 5 are silent study floors for people who need to concentrate. Talking or whispering is not permitted on these floors.

Floors 1, 2, and 4 are quiet spaces. You may speak quietly on these floors. The library foyer is the best place for conversations at a normal volume.

Summer 2022 note: Due to renovations in the library, floor 5 is probably your best bet for quiet study space. All of floor 4, including the Discovery Centre, is closed.

Study Rooms

Study rooms are bookable. Please keep any online conversations or meetings at a modest volume, as the rooms are not soundproof. Note that study rooms on the 4th floor are not available, as the entire floor is closed for renovations.

Graduate Study Rooms

There are a limited number of study spaces dedicated to Graduate Students located on the fifth floor, rooms 509, 511, and 537. These spaces are for single, silent study and are available on a first come first serve basis.

There are a limited number of computers available on a first come, first served basis. They are located in the back of the 2nd and 3rd floors. A few computers are available in the back of the 1st floor. The computers on the 4th floor are no longer available.

Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

Please set cell phones to silent. Computers and audio devices should be used with headphones and at low volume.
