With many renovation projects taking place in the Library this year we want to make sure you have a space to keep up to date on what these are and what the timelines are. Check back regularly as we share updates on these spaces.

May 30, 2022

Please note that the front section of level 4 is now closed to the public.

All books from this floor have been relocated to other floors. The shelving is currently being dismantled and will be removed.

The rest of the floor will be closing on June 3 until renovations to the space is complete sometime in September.

May 24, 2022

As of May 24, there will be some disruption to access on Level two. Access to stairwell “B” and the public elevators servicing the upper levels will be maintained during construction.

If you're looking for quiet study space, floor 5 is probably your best bet, as construction noise might be audible on floor 3.

Data lab and Transition space on Level One

The GIS/Data Lab on our first floor will be similar in size to the Book Arts Lab on our second floor.

This renovation will include new flooring and new furniture and we have already been working with our Library user experience group to solicit feedback on the types of furniture that will be used in this space. We are also looking at renovating the space that leads from the tunnel into the library so the entire floor on level one will be redone as well.

This lab will house Bloomberg and GIS workstations.

Timeline: Construction on this space will begin after the completion of the renovation of our level two renovation work.

Study spaces, Service counter, and the moss wall on Level Two

As part of this renovation we will be converting Room 235 into two fully accessible group study rooms, with some space used for overflow staff workspace.

Another large feature of this space will be the renovation of the Library service counter. There will be new service areas for Research Support Services and ITS, with soft seating between the service areas.

Not to be forgotten is the addition of a moss wall that will depict campus bounded by rivers

Timeline: Construction is underway and expected to be completed in early September.

Future Learning Lab on Level Four

This project in partnership with Teaching and Learning Services will encompass our entire fourth floor. In order to accommodate this project, every book in the library will have to be physically relocated, and that relocation has already started and is going quite well.

All existing furniture will be replaced, with additional new furniture and seating being put in place.

Building 3 additional bathrooms.

Timeline: All books have been removed from this level, the front space is now closed to the public and the entire floor will be closed from June 3 to mid-October.
