The MacOdrum Library building is closed to students and faculty; however, our resources and staff are still very much available and committed to assisting students and faculty. Librarians and Professional Services Staff are working and prepared to help you remotely. Many library resources and services are accessible online – for a simple guide to receiving assistance during this time, see: library.carleton.ca/library-news/get-help-library-your-online-teaching-learning-and-research.
The decision to close the library building was made in consideration of the health of students and staff and to do our part to slow the spread of Covid-19 in our community. On Monday, the Ontario Public Health Minister recommended closing libraries across the province and on Tuesday, the Declaration of the State of Emergency took steps to limit gatherings of 50 people or more and the closing of public spaces.
Our actions are consistent with other academic libraries across Ontario, Canada, and the United States.
The building closure and the closure of so many other libraries has necessitated changes to some of our in person services, for a list of all changes: library.carleton.ca/library-news/changes-library-services-remainder-term
We will continue to update this page and the linked pages as we navigate this rapidly changing situation and will continue to work to support our community to the best of our ability.
