COLD Database

The COLD Database is maintained by the American Geosciences Institute and contains content from three separate initiatives that relate to cold regions:

• The USPA Permafrost Alert Program (2011-present)
• Bibliography on Cold Regions Sciences and Technology (1900-2011)
• Antarctic Bibliography (1950-2011)

The database includes alerts about recent permafrost literature, as well as bibliographic references to Antarctic research and exploration; Cold Regions engineering and physical science information; and biological, geological, and medical sciences, meteorology, oceanography, atmospheric and terrestrial physics, expeditions, logistics equipment and supplies, and tourism.

References to scientific and engineering research related to material and operations in a winter battlefield; the nature and impact of cold on facilities and activities; cold-related environmental problems; and the impact of human activity on cold environments are also included.
