World Population Cartogram (2015)

From NPR:

World maps distort - it's inherent in their design. When you try to place a 3D world onto a 2D map, more often than not, Russia and Canada look bigger, while countries along the Equator shrink.

This cartogram, created by Reddit user TeaDranks, resizes countries based on their population. Each square represents 500,000 people.
