Climate GIS Data and Maps

• Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis - includes global and Canadian climate models. Dozens of data points including sea surface temperatures, winds, clouds, and soil temperature depending on which climate model is chosen.
• Canadian National Fire Database - forest fires 1986-2020
• ClimateData.ca - observations and forecasts across Canada, mostly temperature and precipitation. Most of the datasets use Environment Canada weather stations and respective data with an easier-to-use interface.
• Commission for Environmental Cooperation - North American historical precipitation and temperature, emissions, protected areas, and more
• Environment Canada Climate Data and Scenarios - observations, modelling, forecasts, and more
  • Also Environment Canada Historical Climate Data and Canadian Climate Normals (1961-2010 by weather station)
• National Pollutant Release Inventory (Canada) - data on pollutants by industry, location, and more
• Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium - historical and future-shifted northern Pacific Ocean and Canada-wide datasets
• PAVICS - climate simulations, observations, reanalyses and forecasts. Straightforward data download interface but requires knowledge of variables and abbreviations (e.g. CMIP5).

• Climate.gov - dozens of datasets. Can navigate by indicator (sea ice, ocean heat, surface temperature, etc.) to get to datasets by using Related Content at bottom.
• Climatic Research Unit from University of East Anglia, UK - historical and future global climate datasets, and links to other UK climate data resources
• Data Pathfinders from EarthData (NASA) - topic overviews and links to relevant datasets (many in geospatial data formats) on topics such as ecological forecasting, sea level change, and air quality.
• IRI Digital Library - "online data repository and analysis tool that allows a user to view, analyze, and download hundreds of terabytes of climate-related data"
• National Centers for Environmental Information - dozens of global climate datasets
• National Snow & Ice Data Centre - sea ice, glacier, permafrost, and other datasets for the Arctic and Antarctica
• Socioeconomic Data and Applications Center (SEDAC - NASA) - global data collections including air quality, climate migration, environmental sustainability index, water quality, etc.
• WorldBank Climate Change data - dozens of datasets by country such as renewable energy output, forest area, and greenhouse gas emissions. Not downloadable in GIS format but in tabular datasets (spreadsheets) which can be joined to a shapefile of countries.
• WorldClim - historical and future climate datasets
