This list is not exhaustive but includes historical and future climate geospatial datasets for Canada and around the world. All data resources listed here are free to download.
Some things to note:
- These datasets can be complex and have a lot of scientific terminology, so reading documentation is important.
- See the "Make your own map online with climate data" section to select from pre-made maps or create your own online without downloading any data or software.
- Many of the climate datasets are rasters (e.g. .tif, .nc) so please consult our DEM Formats guide for how to open them in various GIS software packages.
- GIS staff at the library are not experts in this wide range of climate datasets but can assist with how to use different file formats in various GIS software packages.
