The next phase of renovations in MacOrdrum Library is expected to begin on Monday, February 6 and will continue until the end of June. The areas that will be included in this $1.5-million phase will be the third floor in the extension, washrooms, upgrades to the main staircase, and renovations on the first floor.
- February 6: The third-floor extension will be closed for the day on February 6 as construction begins to add more student study space. This closure is to minimize disruption and for student safety. When the work is completed, there will be four new student study rooms and an additional 45 seats on the third floor in the extension.
- February 6: Demolition begins on the first floor to begin construction on a new BIT IRM lab.
- February 13: All washrooms located on floors one to three in the extension section of the library will be closed for renovations.
In the coming weeks, the main staircase (staircase A) in the library will be closed from floors one to five. Patrons will be directed to use other staircases within the building.
Students and other library users will experience noise during the renovations. Facilities Management and Planning appreciates your patience and co-operation as we complete these improvements to the library.
