Company & Industry Data

For Company financial data use:
Global (also includes Canadian companies)

  • Bloomberg - must be used on campus!    Book a time on one of 8 workstations in the library. Help is available!
  • Mergent - U.S. and selected global coverage. Do a company search by the name of your company.
  • Factiva - Mouse over Companies/Markets from menu bar at top of page.  Key in company name.

Find a SWOT Analysis
If the company is publicly traded, you may find a SWOT analysis 

  • Go to Business Source Complete and search for your company name.  Scroll down and limit by Company Report and SWOT Analysis.
  • Try Passport.  Select Companies from the top tab and key in your company name.  Select relevant segment and open the profile.  Look in the table of contents for a SWOT analysis. 

  Look to the company's web site for valuable information:  Read the Management Discussion and Analysis - (MD&A) section of the Annual Report or 10k.  Read the letter to the shareholders from the CEO in the company's annual report.

Industry Reports

  • Mergent Online U.S. and selected global coverage. For industry reports, select the Report Search tab from the menu. Select industry of interest and then geographical region.
  • Business Source Complete For industry information, key in industry name and select Industry Overview under Document Type and Industry Profile under Publication Type.
  • Passport Begin by selecting Industries on the top toolbar and choose an industry.  Next, select Now Choose Geographies, click on your country or countries and GO.
  • Bloomberg - type in BI and select sector. Choose your industry from the list and then explore table of contents for analysis and stats.

Internet sites
Look to the company's web site for valuable information: Read the Management Discussion and Analysis - (MD&A) section of the Annual Report or 10k. Read the letter to the shareholders from the CEO in the company's annual report.

Look for industry stats and data from trade associations: Google the industry + country + associations to find trade associations.
