Subject Headings in Journal Articles Databases
Journal articles databases also have subject headings but the terms will differ. For instance, in Gender Studies Database, search the subject index to identify relevant terms. To access the subject index, click on Indexes:
Select Subject Terms from the drop-down menu:
Enter a subject term to start browsing the index:
Check the terms to be included in the subject terms search. Click the Add button to add them to your search.
To create a compound search, repeat the browse for other subject terms and check the appropriate values. To the left of the Add button, select and or or (depending on whether you are narrowing or broadening your search) from the drop-down menu, then click the Add button.
Consult the help within journal articles databases for more information.
