Are you considering developing an Open textbook or OER? We have created a general OER flowchart - to shed a little light on the process.
The Library is working in conjunction with Teaching and Learning Services (TLS), external partners such as eCampus Ontario and the Rebus Foundation, and with the larger community of practice around development, adaptation and adoption of Open Educational Resources.
Guidelines for OER publishing at Carleton are still being developed, however, as a general principle, inclusion in CU's OER repository will be limited to materials that have undergone at least one external peer review.
We provide support development of open resources through consultations and assistance on developing workflows, author/partnership agreements (contributing authors), copyright considerations, metadata, indexing and exposure.
We are willing to support a number of formats, our primary activities for open textbook publishing have been around Pressbooks.
